Millstone 4 H Camp

At Millstone 4-H Camp, we are dedicated to providing an unforgettable experience for our campers and guests. Our mission is to offer a unique environment where individuals can learn, grow, and have fun while making lifelong memories. We believe in fostering a sense of community and teamwork, encouraging our campers to try new things and step out of their comfort zones.

Our staff is made up of experienced professionals who are passionate about providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone. From our seasonal camp staff to our full-time team, we are committed to creating a positive and supportive atmosphere that allows our campers to thrive.

Our History

Millstone 4-H Camp has a rich history dating back to 1938, when construction began with the help of the Federal Works Progress Administration and L.R. Harrell, State 4-H Leader. By 1939, the camp was officially open and hosted its first group of 4-H youth. Over the years, we have continued to grow and expand, adding new facilities and programs to better serve our campers.

In 1952, we added a recreational hall and two additional cabins. In 1955, a farm shop was constructed, followed by the installation of a pool in 1979. In 2005, a high ropes course was added, thanks to funding from Richmond County's Cole Foundation. In 2009, all 14 cabins were upgraded with heating and cooling systems, bathrooms, and a new sewer system, courtesy of the North Carolina General Assembly. By 2010, the kitchen was completely remodeled with state-of-the-art appliances and amenities.

Our staff members are experienced in a variety of areas, including outdoor education, recreational activities, and youth development. They are trained to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all campers, and they are committed to helping each individual have a fun and memorable experience at Millstone.

Facilities

Millstone 4-H Camp is situated on 320 acres of beautifully restored longleaf pine stands in the heart of the Sandhills Game Lands. Our facility features a variety of natural treasures and specialized recreational facilities, including a core dam with a concrete spillway impounding an 18-acre lake, water system with a deep well and water tower, 12 cabins, dining hall, craft shelter, caretakers' house, staff house, two washrooms, cooks' cabin, and a staff house.

In addition to these facilities, we also offer a recreational hall, farm shop, pool, and high ropes course. Our facilities are designed to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all of our campers and guests.

Summer Camps

At Millstone 4-H Camp, we offer a variety of summer camps designed to provide an unforgettable experience for our campers. From our traditional 4-H camps to our specialty camps, we believe that there is something for everyone at Millstone.

Our traditional 4-H camps are designed to foster a sense of community and teamwork among our campers. These camps offer a wide range of activities, including outdoor education, recreational games, and arts and crafts. Our specialty camps, on the other hand, provide a more focused experience for our campers. For example, our 4-H Horsemanship Camp allows campers to learn about horse care and riding techniques, while our Fur, Fish, and Game Rendezvous offers an opportunity for campers to learn about wildlife conservation and outdoor skills.
