At General Building Supply, we are a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the building and general contracting needs of the Tri-State area since 1953. Our commitment to providing exceptional products and services has allowed us to grow and expand our operations over the years. Today, we operate two full-scale hardware stores and home improvement companies, one in Huntington, West Virginia, and another in Louisa, Kentucky, under the name Wellman Hardware.

Our History

General Building Supply, Inc. was founded in 1953 and was originally located on Third Avenue in Huntington, West Virginia. In 1989, Steve and Sherry Waggoner purchased the store and moved it to its present location at 618 Seventh Avenue. Since then, we have introduced a wide range of new products to our supply market and have expanded our services to include a full line of retail hardware supplies.

Our hardware stores are stocked with everything from plumbing and electrical supplies to paint, pest control, and power tools. We also specialize in home improvement services, including doors, windows, awnings, railing, siding, sun and screen rooms, decks, and patios. Our experienced staff is always happy to assist customers with their specific needs.
