Renewable Energy Massachusetts LLC (REM) is a trailblazing solar energy development company based in Massachusetts. Our Team

ROBERT M. KNOWLES, PARTNER & CO-FOUNDER

Bob Knowles is a Partner of REM and co-founded the company in 2009 to bring as much large utility-scale clean solar energy to Massachusetts and the region as possible. Bob's core responsibilities include new business generation, site acquisition, project development & permitting, as well as energy off-take sales prospecting. He has over twenty-five years of business experience under his belt and has held various executive roles before REM. Bob acts in advisory and board capacities for various for-profit and non-profit start-up and emerging-stage companies in the Boston area.

BRIAN KOPPERL, MANAGING PARTNER & CO-FOUNDER

Brian Kopperl is the co-founder and Managing Partner of REM, responsible for overseeing the firm's strategic direction and project development activities. Brian has a wide-ranging career in project development, negotiations, business development, and financial and risk assessment. He has previously co-founded and co-led an investment management firm in Boston, where he grew the portfolio from $3 million to $450 million. Brian has also worked as a corporate and securities attorney in San Francisco, CA, and served on the law staff of Judge Pamela Rymer of the Ninth Circuit United States Court of Appeals in Pasadena, CA. Brian earned his BA from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT, and a JD from the UCLA School of Law.

THOMAS SCHIEBER, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Thomas Schieber is REM's Business Development Director responsible for new business generation, site acquisition, project development, and managing utility relationships during the development phase of solar projects. Thomas has a diverse industry background, enabling him to bring a unique perspective to solar energy development.
