Mount Desert Campground is a unique and scenic campground located on the heart of Mount Desert Island, just minutes away from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the island, the campground offers waterfront and wooded sites, providing a peaceful and relaxing environment for families to enjoy.

Founded in 1958 by Marie and Arnold Allen, the campground was built with the goal of maintaining a quiet and clean tenting campground where families could come to relax, enjoy the natural beauty, and create lifelong memories. The Allens' loyal following of campers returned year after year, creating a strong community that continued to grow.

In 1984, the Allens sold the campground to one of their long-time campers, the Craigheads, who have continued to maintain the campground's legacy. The Craigheads strive to provide a quiet campground with the cleanest and most up-to-date facilities, welcoming families and creating a space where children can make new memories with their kids.

3. Facilities with metered hot showers: The campground has clean and modern facilities with metered hot showers, ensuring that guests have access to hot water at all times.

4. Salt Water Fishing & Swimming: The campground is located directly on the saltwater shore of beautiful Somes Sound, offering opportunities for saltwater fishing and swimming.

5. Kayak, Canoe & SUP Rentals: Guests can rent kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) to explore the beautiful waters around the campground.
