Our story began in 1974 when our founder, Jim Allen, decided to take matters into his own hands after facing a prolonged labor dispute in his previous employment. A U.S. Navy veteran, Jim had learned the intricacies of refrigeration during his time in the military. His commitment to skilled workmanship and quality materials quickly earned our company a solid reputation in the commercial and residential HVAC sectors.

Over the years, Allen Refrigeration Services Inc. has remained family-owned and operated. As we continue to grow and expand, we have charted a course for the future that includes continued growth and more diversity in product and service offerings.

Company History

Jim Allen, our founder, was employed by a large refrigeration firm for many years before he decided to open his own business. His father encouraged him to take the leap, and in 1974, Allen Refrigeration Services was born. By 1986, we had outgrown our original facility and relocated to Moore Rd. in Avon Lake. This new location provided ample space for a large sheet metal fabrication shop, an area for in-house repair of small equipment, a vehicle maintenance bay, plenty of warehouse storage space, and a large office area.

Our expansion into new market areas, such as digital controls, soon followed, and the birth of our dedicated residential service, Allen Heating/Cooling, filled in another important piece of the picture. Today, Jim Allen's family is part of the firm, allowing their father to devote more time to field service, the work he enjoys most.
