From One Generation To Another
Pinocchio's Restaurant has been a staple in the community for over 60 years. Established in 1955, it was the first pizzeria in Delaware County and is now the oldest restaurant in Media, PA. This family-run business has been serving quality food and great service for three generations. In 2009, the award-winning Beer Garden To Go was added, offering over 1,000 varieties of craft beer, domestics, and imports.
Our History
Pinocchio's first opened in 1955 as the first pizzeria in Delaware County. Over the years, it has introduced various menu items such as homemade chili, tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, becoming a go-to spot for Mexican food in the area. The restaurant has also been known for its strombolis, introducing them to Delaware County in 1966. The Volikas family has been instrumental in the restaurant's growth, with Tom and Athena buying the business in 1965 and their son Ted starting to work at the restaurant as a teenager in 1970.
Achievements
Pinocchio's has achieved several milestones, including introducing six-foot hoagies in 1976 and starting a delivery service in 1978. The restaurant has also celebrated its 35th anniversary in 1990 and turned 50 in 2005. In 2006, Pinocchio's became one of the first restaurants in Delaware County to go non-smoking. The addition of the Beer Garden To Go in 2009 further expanded the offerings, making it a popular destination for beer enthusiasts.
