Lessons On Strings

With over three decades of experience, Lessons On Strings has established itself as a premier destination for personalized music education. Founded by Mark Benjamin, our approach combines technical expertise with a deep commitment to nurturing each student's unique musical journey. We specialize in guitar, bass, ukulele, songwriting, and music theory instruction, catering to learners aged 5 through adulthood, from beginners to advanced players. Our teaching philosophy emphasizes practical skill development through favorite songs while building foundational music theory knowledge. We offer flexible learning environments including in-studio lessons at Lamorinda Music, remote sessions via Zoom, and select in-home instruction.

Our proven methods accelerate learning through specialized drills for chord transitions, strumming patterns, and intuitive memorization techniques. We pride ourselves on serving diverse learners, including special needs students, with customized approaches that build confidence and musical independence. Our track record includes preparing students for professional performances, as evidenced by students sharing stages with major artists like Green Day. We maintain rigorous professional standards through continuous curriculum development and adaptation of modern teaching technologies.
