Our Story: The Heart of Cornell

At Cornell & Company, Inc., we're not just another construction company; we're pioneers in the heavy construction and equipment industry. With almost a century in the industry, our reputation for quality services and equipment is unmatched. Our story began in the early 1900s when Charles Frederick Cornell left New York to start his steel erection business in Woodbury, New Jersey. Today, we are a privately owned and operated multimillion-dollar enterprise, steeped in a tradition of excellence and harmony.

The Cornell Family Legacy

Charles Cornell's vision was to build a company that would shape the future. His son, Ralph, demonstrated leadership and initiative that made Cornell & Company one of the largest steel construction companies on the East Coast. In 1975, Ralph's son, Charles, took over as President/Field Superintendent, molding the company into a specialist for the Atlantic City redevelopment and the high-rise boom in Philadelphia. In 1984, Delor D'Andrea Cornell joined the company as General Manager and became President and CEO in 1988. With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, she oversees all aspects of the business. In 1996, she acquired sole ownership of the corporation, expanding Cornell into Manhattan and throughout the state of New York.

Delor D'Andrea Cornell is a pioneer in life-saving construction techniques and a former co-chair of the Ironworkers International "Impact" Drug & Alcohol task force. Under her leadership, Cornell & Company, Inc. continually strives to develop innovative heavy construction and equipment operations. We customize project equipment and have invested in new crane technology. Our AISC certified fabrication facility with fracture critical endorsement provides all types of custom steel fabrication. We also maintain an AISC sophisticated paint endorsement for our shop blast and painting facility.

We own and operate a large fleet of Tower Gantry Cranes, offering our clients the best in crane technology. With the acquisition of FMC's Linkbelt Tower Crane Division, we've added a powerful dimension to our product line, resulting in unequaled quality and versatility.
