Del Mar Hills Nursery School is a traditional nursery school that has been serving the Del Mar, CA community since 1970. Our mission is to provide a joyful, loving environment where children can develop and grow in all areas - socially, emotionally, physically, creatively, and cognitively. We believe that play is the foundation of early childhood development, and we strive to create a balanced environment that encourages independence and avoids frustration.

At Del Mar Hills Nursery School, we value the child's home life and respect the partnership we have with families. We welcome involvement in many ways and celebrate all children's cultural holidays. We appreciate being a traditional nursery school and continue many of our long-lasting traditions, finding wonderment in the seasons and the natural world.

Programs

Preschool

Our Preschool Program is intended for children aged 2 years 6 months to 4 years old. Each Preschool child has 1 1/2 hours of group time with their age-specific group each day, mastering skills across several developmental areas. In addition to their designated group time, each child has daily access to a 30-minute Orff Schulwerk program, as well as activities in the Froebel Room, Art Studio, and the Outdoor Learning Environment.

We believe that children learn best through their own experiences, trial and error, and repetition. Our teachers are here to help and guide them by ensuring that the environment is safe and supportive. Each child develops in his or her own manner, and we are here to support and encourage their growth.

Pre-Kindergarten

Our Pre-Kindergarten Program is designed for children who have turned 4 years old and are preparing to enter Kindergarten. This program builds upon the skills and knowledge gained in the Preschool Program and further prepares children for success in Kindergarten and beyond.

Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten Program is a half-day program that builds upon the skills and knowledge gained in the Pre-Kindergarten Program. This program is designed to provide children with a strong foundation in reading, writing, and math, as well as a deep appreciation for the natural world and the arts.

Enrollment at Del Mar Hills Nursery School is easy and straightforward. We have created a set of Enrollment Procedures & Requirements to help guide you through the enrollment process. We also have flexible Schedule Options to accommodate the needs of our families.

At Del Mar Hills Nursery School, we draw upon several philosophies to guide our programs and approach to early childhood education. These include Froebel, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Orff Schulwerk, and the Outdoor Classroom. We believe that by incorporating these philosophies, we can provide a well-rounded and holistic approach to early childhood education.
