Behind The Wheel has been the trusted provider of professional driver education in Evansville and surrounding southern Indiana communities since 2011. We take pride in our commitment to delivering unmatched service, convenience, and experience to our thousands of teen and adult students. Our knowledgeable and responsive office staff is always available to answer questions, assist with BMV-required paperwork, and make the process of getting a permit and license as easy as possible. We serve the following Indiana counties: Vanderburgh, Warrick, Gibson, Dubois, North Spencer, Daviess, Martin, and Washington.

Our Services

At Behind The Wheel, we offer a comprehensive driver education program that includes an Indiana BMV-approved online course, six hours of driving with certified instructors in our fully-insured vehicles, and the Indiana-required drive test. We provide instruction to both teen and adult students, and all drive sessions and drive tests are by appointment only.

Our team of instructors is held to a high standard of conduct, and we are extremely selective about who we train and employ. We are also an Indiana-certified driver education training school, and we welcome those who are interested in becoming instructors to complete our convenient online application.

We understand that driver education can be complicated, and that's why we make it easier. Our full-service, year-round, Indiana-accredited instruction involves both the beginning driver and the parents, allowing students to start learning immediately. Our online course can be completed at your own pace any time of the day or night, and we provide step-by-step resources on your online student account to guide you successfully from getting the permit to getting the license. We also provide the Certificate of Driver Education Enrollment (CDE) form required in order to get a permit at age 15, which is not available from online course-only schools.

At Behind The Wheel, we offer pick-up from home or school for all drive sessions at no extra charge, saving busy parents both time and gas. We include the Indiana-required final drive (road) test for license, and only students of Behind The Wheel Driving Academy are eligible to take the drive test. Our instructors undergo a thorough certification process, including an in-depth background check and physical exam. Students drive one-on-one with the instructor in our fully-insured vehicles, and parents are always encouraged to talk with the instructor or call the office regarding how the student is progressing and any areas of concern.
