The Drop Dance Studio

The Drop Dance Studio, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit street dance studio, is dedicated to providing high-quality street dance training to the community. Our mission is to uplift the future generation of dance artists and leaders within our underserved community, drawing upon the wisdom and legacies embedded in diverse street dance forms like Hip Hop, Popping, Whacking, Locking, and Breaking. Since 2011, we have been committed to fostering a love for dance and promoting the positive impacts it has on our community.

Why Street Dance?

Many street dance forms have roots in underserved communities, emerging as a form of expression and cultural identity. They served as powerful means for empowerment, and community-building, allowing marginalized groups to reclaim their narratives and find strength through dance. Learning these dance forms enables young people to gain advantages in various areas of their lives, including community connection, youth empowerment, health and well-being, cultural preservation, inclusivity and diversity, skill development, and education and outreach.

Our Vision for the Future

Our vision for the future is to establish a stable and diversified funding base to ensure the financial sustainability of the dance studio over the long term. We plan to expand or improve studio facilities to accommodate a larger student body, invest in ongoing professional development opportunities for dance instructors, organize large-scale community dance events, performances, or festivals that showcase the talents of the studio's dancers, and provide FREE classes for all by removing the financial barriers for individuals who may otherwise be unable to afford dance.

Programs

We offer a variety of programs designed to cater to different age groups and skill levels within the community. These include:

• Open Dance Classes: Providing regular dance classes tailored for different age groups and skill levels for the community.
• Community Workshops: Periodic workshops open to the community, introducing participants to other professional street dancers outside of our community.
• Performance Opportunities: Creating platforms for dancers to showcase their talents through local performances and events.
• Pro Teams: Creating a professional setting for participants to receive advanced training aimed at fostering their professional growth.
• Outreach: Providing free or subsidized dance programs as well as spreading knowledge and awareness at community events.
• Instructor Development: Giving opportunity for current dancers to observe, learn and acquire teaching skills from our existing instructors.

Achievements

The Drop Dance Studio has been operational since 2011 and has been performing and competing in and out of state for 11 years. We are proud of our accomplishments and look forward to continuing to provide high-quality street dance training to the community.
