Come experience the true spirit of Pierce, America

Our History

The Pioneer Inn stands proudly in North Central Idaho, its foundations rooted deep in the history of the region. Situated on the site of one of the original buildings in the historic gold-rush town of Pierce, the inn carries a rich legacy dating back to 1865. Originally known as the Pioneer Hotel, this establishment played a vital role in supporting the influx of miners drawn to the region's burgeoning gold fields. It offered weary travelers respite in the form of hot meals, warm beds, and, as local lore suggests, "other" services that catered to the needs of the pioneer era. Unfortunately, the original structure succumbed to the test of time and was demolished in the early 1900s, making way for the current building, which also inherited the name Pioneer Hotel.

Throughout the decades, the building changed hands numerous times, its identity evolving along with its ownership. Locals vividly remember its time as the well-regarded Key Bar, a popular gathering spot for residents and visitors alike. More recently, it was known as the Cedar Inn, before embarking on its latest chapter under new ownership. In January of 2013, Shyam & Parveen Bhardwaj acquired the building, recognizing its historical significance and seeking to restore its former glory. They revived the spirit of the original Pioneer Hotel, renaming it the Pioneer Inn and embarking on a journey to reconnect the inn with its rich past. The Pioneer Inn's legacy continued to be shaped in 2020 when a local partnership consisting of Dan Ebert, Clay & Lily Hosley took ownership, with Beth Pratt stepping in to manage its day-to-day operations.
