Q: How old does a puppy need to be for its first groom?

A: It's recommended that you get your young puppy or kitten groomed as soon as possible. This helps them to quickly get used to the grooming process, and you may start as early as 8 weeks! Here at Paw Spa, we take our time to make sure your little one's first groom is as stress-free as possible to prepare them for a lifetime of grooming.

Q: My pet is very matted, can she be brushed out and left long?

A: This can only be answered on a case-by-case basis. On very matted dogs or cats, it is most humane and far less painful to shave under the mats. At Paw Spa, we prioritize the animals' needs and comfort levels over the hairstyle. In some cases, it may be possible to brush the coat out, but it is all dependent on the severity of the mats and the animal's tolerance. It should also be noted that brushing mats out is a very time-consuming process.
