We provide free, high-quality tutoring in reading, writing, and speaking English to empower individuals, strengthen families, and build a more robust workforce. Our mission is to promote literacy as a foundation for lifelong learning, personal growth, and civic engagement.
Our Services
LVSF offers a range of programs tailored to meet the unique needs of our students. Our tutoring programs focus on basic reading and writing skills, job skill building, empowering parents to help their children, and assisting immigrants in preparing for citizenship.
1. Citizenship Program: Our citizenship program helps immigrants become active members of our community by becoming U.S. citizens. Tutors work with students to prepare for the exam, which consists of both an oral and written component.
2. Volunteer Tutoring Program: To become a tutor, all that is required is a commitment to 2-3 hours weekly for 9-12 months, basic literacy skills, and a desire to help others. Our training program will equip you with the necessary tools to make a difference in someone's life.
3. Literacy Programs: Our literacy programs focus on improving basic reading and writing skills. We provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to ensure that our students receive the attention and support they need to succeed.
4. Job Skill Building: We help students build the necessary job skills to succeed in today's workforce. This includes improving communication skills, resume writing, and interview techniques.
5. Parent Empowerment Program: Our parent empowerment program helps parents develop the skills necessary to support their children's education. This includes reading with children, understanding homework, and communicating effectively with teachers.
