Rose City Yacht Club

As one of the oldest and largest yacht clubs in Portland, Oregon, Rose City Yacht Club has a rich history dating back to 1932. Over the years, we have grown to become a thriving community of members who share a passion for boating and the great outdoors. Our marina is situated on the Columbia River, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape and easy access to the Pacific Ocean.

Our Marina and Facilities

Our marina is a 160-slip facility built and owned by its members. We pride ourselves on being a member-built and operated marina, which means that our members have a direct say in the maintenance and development of our facilities. We perform all our own repairs and maintenance, which in turn keeps our dues and fees very affordable. Our marina features concrete docks and a floating clubhouse, with a capacity to accommodate up to 84 persons. We also have a pump-out dock and a commercial fuel dock located at the next-door marina.

Work Parties and Community Involvement

At Rose City Yacht Club, we believe that community involvement is crucial to the success of our club. To ensure that all members participate in maintaining the club, we require a minimum of 16 work hours per year per membership. However, we understand that it takes more hours than the minimum to maintain and develop the club, which is why we appreciate the extra effort that many members contribute, particularly on special projects. Our work parties are truly "parties" with social aspects taking on equal importance to the work.

Sailing and Cruising

Rose City Yacht Club is a haven for sailors and cruisers alike. Our members enjoy a variety of sailing and cruising activities, including organized cruises on the Columbia River and informal gatherings at nearby docks and anchorages. Our "Lazy Daze" cruise is a popular event, where we explore the lower Columbia River estuary and its many hidden coves and anchorages.

Racing and Racing Events

For those who enjoy racing, we sponsor local and offshore sailboat races, and many of our members have trophied in ocean races regularly. We also participate in local racing events and host our own regattas and sailing competitions.
