Tipsinah Mounds Campground

Welcome to Tipsinah Mounds Park & Campground, a peaceful retreat nestled on the shores of Pomme de Terre Lake in west-central Minnesota. Our campground is situated amidst towering oak trees and bordered by the softly lapping waters of the lake, creating a serene atmosphere that's perfect for relaxation and recreation.

Our History

For over 10,000 years, people have recognized the natural beauty of this area, and it's no surprise that it has been explored for centuries. Archaeologists have uncovered bone tools and flint chips dating back to 9000 B.C., and nearly 40 Indian burial mounds can be found east of the entrance road to the park, believed to have been built from 1000 A.D. to 1600 A.D. The area served as a natural shelter for the Chippewa Indians who lived in this region, and the Pomme de Terre River was a natural boundary between the Dakota Plains Indians and the Chippewa.

General Store

For your convenience, we have a General Store on-site, offering a variety of items including bait, tackle, ice, fishing supplies, groceries, and gifts. Our store is open on weekends, with special hours posted on the door. We also offer weekday hours by request.

Your Safety

Your safety is our top priority. Our park and campground are routinely police-patrolled, and our caretakers live on the grounds to ensure your well-being and safety. Additionally, we have a 20'x80' FEMA-approved concrete storm shelter on the premises, designed to provide a safe and secure environment in the event of severe weather.

Our Campground

Our campground offers a range of accommodations, including electrical and water hookups for RVs, as well as tenting areas. We also have a lodge and a cabin available for weekly rental, equipped with docks for personal use and stunning views of the lake.
