At Bread Alone, we're passionate about baking for people and the planet. Our story began over 40 years ago as a humble family bakery in the Catskills, and we've since dedicated ourselves to serving folks simple, honest breads and foods that speak to the best in us.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to serve honest food, create prosperity for our people, and minimize harm to the planet. We believe that what we eat matters, and that's why we're committed to making our organic sourdough breads available to all. We're on a mission to prove that you don't have to sacrifice taste for principles. Our breads are made with water, salt, and organic wheat, transformed through the unhurried magic of fermentation. We proudly go slow in a world that moves fast, and we're dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment.
Our Services
We operate cafes in Boiceville, Rhinebeck, and Woodstock, featuring breads and pastries from our carbon-neutral bakery. Our cafes prioritize approachable sustainability, sourcing local produce during the Hudson Valley growing season and working with mission-aligned purveyors. We offer a variety of breads, pastries, and cafe foods that are nourishing, delicious, and good for the planet. You can also find our products at grocery stores throughout the Northeast and at our NYC Farmers' Markets.
Our Story
We've been certified organic since 2002, and we've been baking with organic grain long before that. We measure our carbon footprint, reduce what we can, and offset the rest. We're proud to be carbon-neutral, and we donate 1% of all bread sales to environmental non-profits. We believe that organic is the right choice for our health and our planet.
Our Values
At Bread Alone, we value honesty, simplicity, and sustainability. We believe that everyone deserves access to good, healthy food, and we're committed to making that a reality. We're passionate about baking for people and the planet, and we invite you to join us on this journey.
