Cripple Creek Dance Studio

Cripple Creek Corner is a dance studio located in the heart of Burgaw, NC, that has been enriching lives with dance education for over 40 years. Founded in 1982 by Lewis "Buck" Aycock and his wife, Nancy, the studio's goal was to create a place not only to teach dance but also to provide arts enrichment to the community. Over the years, the studio has offered a variety of classes including clogging, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, modern/lyrical, theatre dance, zumba, jazzercise, aerobics, and partner dancing like shagging and ballroom. In addition to dance classes, the studio has also been used for community gatherings, weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations.

The main building of Cripple Creek Corner was originally built in 1924 as a car dealership/garage. It has served the community in many different ways, including a dance studio, community arts center, reception hall, town meeting place, wedding chapel, and even the temporary home for the Pender County Courthouse. Today, the studio is still under the direction and ownership of Miss Nancy, who leads a team of dance teachers dedicated to providing the best dance education and experience in the Burgaw community.

Clogging Team

The Cripple Creek Cloggers are a competition clogging team that has been dancing since 1982. Founded by Nancy Aycock Rivenbark and her late husband, Lewis "Buck" Aycock, the team continues to perform and compete today throughout North Carolina. Under the direction of former students, Brittany Norris and Hazel Ellison, with occasional help from Nancy's son, Jason Aycock, the team has won 5 National Championships in the Junior Age Division. The team is well versed in both freestyle and precision dancing, with routines that combine traditional clogging footwork with English Square Dance style figures and contemporary styles.
