Another Choice, Another Chance.
Calhoun Community High School is a public school academy chartered as the Battle Creek Area Learning Center, providing an alternative learning environment for students who have not found success in traditional high schools. Our mission is to provide a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment for students to achieve their academic potentials and establish life goals. We believe that students, with the support of our staff, can achieve their goals and become responsible citizens in a global community.
Our school is committed to providing a comprehensive education that includes academic opportunities, graduation requirements, and a school day schedule. We also offer Michigan Virtual High School, which provides students with the flexibility to earn credits and advance their education.
Enrollment
We understand that every student's educational journey is unique, and we strive to provide a supportive environment for all students. Our enrollment process is thorough and meticulous, ensuring that each student is matched with the right classes and resources to succeed.
For new students, the enrollment process begins with an enrollment packet, which can be obtained from our office. Once the packet is completed, an interview will be scheduled with our Director or designated staff. We believe that strong parental support is essential to a student's success, so the interview must include a parent or guardian, unless the student is emancipated or living as an independent adult.
As part of the enrollment process, students are required to provide academic records, immunization records, and an original Birth Certificate. Discipline history may also be required. Students who have been previously dropped from the program for reasons other than attendance will only be admitted with approval of our Director following a meeting with the student and one or both parents.
