At Switchback Brewing Co., we're passionate about crafting exceptional beers that reflect the beauty and character of the Green Mountains. Our story began over a decade ago, when our founders, a group of friends with a shared passion for brewing, came together to create a brewery that would reflect their love for great beer and their commitment to the community. Today, we're proud to be one of the largest and most respected breweries in the region.

Our Beer

At Switchback Brewing Co., we're dedicated to producing a wide range of beer styles that cater to every taste and preference. From our flagship Switchback Ale to our seasonal releases, we're constantly experimenting with new flavors, ingredients, and brewing techniques to create unique and innovative beers that will delight and surprise. Our portfolio includes a variety of beer styles, from lagers to IPAs, stouts to sours, and everything in between.

Essential Whiskey and Gin

In March 2020, when the pandemic struck, the flow of our Switchback Ale came to a sudden halt. Bars and restaurants returned full kegs to us, and our warehouses were overflowing with even more. Acting quickly, we partnered with Appalachian Gap Distillery to repurpose the surplus beer into our Essential Whiskey. This unique whiskey has a floral, citrusy aroma and classic whiskey flavors, with notes of butterscotch, caramel, and toasted marshmallow. We've also created Essential Vermont Hopped Gin, distilled from Switchback Ale, with notes of fresh flowers, herbs, citrus, and evergreen.

The Tap Room

Our tap room is the heart of our brewery, where we welcome beer enthusiasts and newcomers alike to enjoy a taste of our latest creations. Located in a 120-year-old historic brick building, our tap room features a cozy atmosphere, with comfortable seating and exposed brick walls. Join us for live music, beer tastings, and special events throughout the year.

Private Rentals and Events

Whether you're planning a wedding, corporate event, or milestone celebration, we offer private rentals of our tap room and private events spaces. Our expert event coordinators will work with you to create a customized event that's tailored to your needs and budget. From beer tastings to full-scale events, we'll help you make your celebration unforgettable.

We're proud to be an employee-owned brewery, with our employees owning 100% of the company through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
