Maido! is a Japanese-owned grocery store and restaurant located in the heart of Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2003 by Seiko Dailey, Maido! is the only Japanese-owned grocery store in the Greater Philadelphia area and has been proudly serving the community for nearly two decades. Our mission is to bring the unique and authentic experience of visiting Japan to our customers, from our delicious eat-in lunch counter to our wide selection of Japanese toys, fresh produce, and gifts.

Our Name

Our name, Maido!, is a friendly greeting often heard in the Kansai region of western Japan. It could literally translate to "every time, " but in the Kansai region, it is used as a warm greeting to best customers and translates more closely to "Nice to see you again!" When combined with the Osaka-dialect for thank you ("Maido okini"), it becomes "Thank you for your continued patronage." We strive to embody this sentiment in every interaction with our customers.

Eat-In Lunch Counter

At Maido!, we offer an authentic Japanese dining experience at our eat-in lunch counter. Here, you can enjoy classic Japanese street food, such as savory okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes) and yakisoba (fried noodles), while watching live sumo tournaments beamed directly from Japan via satellite. Our lunch counter provides a unique and immersive cultural experience that truly transports you to Japan. Even if you don't speak Japanese, our friendly staff is always happy to help you learn and enjoy your meal.
