Epik Dance

At EPIK Dance Company, we believe that the beauty lies not in our similarities, but in our differences. Our mission is to provide an opportunity for all people to experience the benefits of dance, foster an appreciation for art in society, and impact audiences by tackling current and thought-provoking subject matter. We achieve this through three main pillars of activity: Performances, Public Education, and Community Enrichment.

Performances

EPIK Dance Company fuses classical training and urban street styles to convey emotions, stories, or concepts using movement that best depicts the message without regard to boundaries and rules typically associated with dance styles. Our performances range from full stage productions to special events and often incorporate theatre, spoken word, and other artistic elements.

Public Education

We offer various classes, workshops, residencies, and school lecture/demonstrations to foster a love and appreciation for dance and other art forms. Our low-cost options make dance accessible to people of all generations, backgrounds, and lifestyles.

Community Enrichment

We use our performance and education initiatives to partner with a number of community organizations. We support organizations such as AIDS Walk Arizona, Chrysalis Shelter, Recreative Arts, Arizona State University's "Urban Sol" event, and many more.

EPIK's Story began in 2007 when Sarah "Saza" Kent and Luis "Weezy" Egurrola, two Phoenix natives, formed the company. They brought together classically trained and street dancers, helping shape Arizona's premier street-fusion dance company. Since then, they have produced several successful shows, including "Common Ground" and "EPIK Effect, " which have received critical acclaim and numerous awards. They have also formed partnerships with organizations like The Be Kind People Project and created anti-bullying shows like "Every Move Matters."
