Heartland Rural Counseling Services, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), organization that has been serving the community since 1993. Our mission is to utilize interventions that will help guide individuals toward self-determination, enabling them to make positive decisions in achieving a healthier lifestyle and promoting individual growth in their mental health.
We specialize in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Our objective is to assist clients in developing a healthy balance in their lives while also achieving their personal goals. Our clients come from all walks of life, and are experiencing trauma and transitions in their lives.
Our Approach
At Heartland Rural Counseling Services, Inc., we use a variety of evidence-based approaches to meet the unique needs of each client. Our team of licensed professionals includes Amanda Lanning, a Licensed Speciality Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW), and Dana Youngman, a Licensed Master's Level Psychologist (LMLP).
Amanda Lanning specializes in theraplay, solution focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and has expertise in Autism and EMDR. Dana Youngman offers psychological testing as well as individual and couples counseling.
Our approach is client-centered, and we work collaboratively with our clients to develop a treatment plan that meets their individual needs. We provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and learn new skills and strategies to improve their mental health and well-being.

Fees and Insurance
Our fees are based on a sliding scale, and we accept most insurance companies as well as KanCare and Medicaid. We schedule daytime and evening appointments, and are committed to making mental health services accessible and affordable for all.
