Deerkill Day Camp is a premier summer day camp for boys and girls located in Suffern, NY. Established in 1958, Deerkill Day Camp has been providing children with a safe, fun, and enriching summer experience for over six decades. Our camp is proudly owned and operated by the Rhodes/Rothman family, who have been committed to building lasting relationships with campers and their families for three generations. Our beautiful and spacious facilities span over 23 acres and feature manicured fields, state-of-the-art equipment, and professional instruction in swimming, athletics, arts, and specialty programs.

Our Programs

At Deerkill Day Camp, we offer a variety of programs tailored to the specific needs and abilities of each child. Our programs include:

  • Pre-K Program (Pre-K 3 & Pre-K 4): Our Pre-K program is designed to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for our youngest campers. Our experienced and dedicated staff work closely with each child to help them develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills through a variety of age-appropriate activities.
  • Junior Camp Program (Entering Kindergarten & 1st Grade): Our Junior Camp Program focuses on building self-confidence and encouraging independence through a variety of structured and unstructured activities, including sports, games, arts and crafts, and swimming.
  • Club Program (Entering 2nd to 5th Grade): Our Club Program offers campers a wide range of activities and opportunities to explore their interests and talents. Our program includes sports, arts and crafts, music, drama, science, and outdoor adventure activities.
  • Quest Program (Entering 6th to 9th Grade): Our Quest Program offers older campers the opportunity to develop leadership skills and participate in exciting and challenging activities, such as ropes courses, team-building exercises, and community service projects.
  • STARS (Entering 10th Grade): Our STARS program is designed for our oldest campers and provides them with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, participate in community service projects, and engage in team-building activities.

Our Facilities and Activities

Deerkill Day Camp features top-of-the-line facilities and equipment, including:

  • Swimming Pools: Our camp features two heated swimming pools with separate shallow and deep areas, providing a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for all ages and abilities. Our pools are staffed with certified lifeguards and water safety instructors.
  • Athletics Fields: Our camp features six regulation-sized sports fields for soccer, baseball, softball, flag football, and lacrosse, as well as basketball and tennis courts.
  • Arts and Crafts Studio: Our arts and crafts studio provides campers with the opportunity to express their creativity through various mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking.
  • Music and Drama Studio: Our music and drama studio offers campers the opportunity to develop their musical and theatrical talents through group and individual instruction, as well as performances and productions.
  • Science and Nature Studio: Our science and nature studio provides campers with the opportunity to explore the natural world through hands-on activities and experiments.
  • Outdoor Adventure Course: Our outdoor adventure course features a variety of challenging and exciting activities, including a ropes course, climbing wall, and zip line.
