Our Story

Screaming Bambino Cellars & Jan Zell Wines began its journey in 2014 with the vision of Arnie and Laura Jansen. They poured their hearts into building Jan Zell Wines, crafting a diverse portfolio of wines that resonated with local wine enthusiasts' palates. This dedication blossomed into a beloved local favorite, with Jan Zell Wines becoming synonymous with quality and flavor within the community.

It was during this period that the fate of both families intertwined. The Jansens, who operated their tasting room on Grant Street in Chambersburg, found a kindred spirit in Rich and Kim Capozzi. Driven by a shared passion for winemaking, the families connected through a home winemaking group initiated by Arnie. Drinks flowed, stories were shared, and a genuine friendship blossomed between them.

Fast forward to 2022, the Jansens entrusted Rich and Kim Capozzi with the stewardship of Jan Zell Wines, marking a new chapter in the winery's story. The Capozzis, embracing the legacy of the Jansens, renamed the winery to Screaming Bambino Cellars, paying a heartfelt homage to the family patriarch, Rich Capozzi, Sr., and his twin brother Bob. Captured in an old photograph, this sibling duo served as constant reminders to the Capozzi family about the true essence of their winemaking philosophy: good wine, good food, cherished friendships, and above all, an unwavering love for family.
