Our Mission

At IHSPA, our mission is to foster a community of high school journalists and yearbook creators who are passionate about telling stories, sharing ideas, and exploring the world around them. We believe that by providing opportunities for growth, improvement, and recognition, we can empower the next generation of journalists and leaders to make a positive impact on their communities and the world at large.

Our Services

IHSPA offers a wide range of services and programs designed to support and enhance high school journalism and yearbook programs. These include:

• Annual fall conference, where students and advisors can attend workshops, sessions, and networking events to learn from industry professionals and peers.
• Contests and competitions, such as the Fall Yearbook Contest, Spring Journalism Contest, and IHSPA Scholar Emerging Journalist Contest, which recognize and reward outstanding work in journalism and yearbook creation.
• Aligned Journalism Curriculum, a comprehensive and innovative curriculum designed to help teachers and advisors develop and implement effective journalism and yearbook programs.
• Member schools' online sites, where students and advisors can showcase their work, share ideas, and connect with others in the IHSPA community.
• Professional development opportunities, such as the Winter Thaw Professional Development Day, which provides teachers and advisors with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their roles.
