Our History

Founded by David Serres in 2000, Island Sash & Door started with humble beginnings on South Whidbey Island. With over two decades of experience in the window and door industry, David built a reputation for being customer-oriented. Island Sash & Door quickly grew in sales, scope, and market area. In August of 2015, we acquired Simmonds Glass, an icon in the window and glass business in Anacortes, WA. This acquisition broadened our portfolio and added depth, expertise, and an expanded line of products and services.

In 2017, we opened a new satellite sales office in Lake Oswego, Oregon, where David began his career in the window and door industry in 1975. We've successfully serviced the architectural and custom home builder/remodeler arenas, providing the best of products, service, and expertise for them and their clients.

In June of 2020, Island Sash & Door expanded once more, creating a hub that proudly serves Central and Western Oregon. Over the years, we've bought, sold, specified, serviced, and installed every type of window and door product the industry has offered. Working with the architectural and design communities, coordinating with the builder, or consulting directly with the owners, our approach has always been the same: "We strive to understand the client's goals for performance, vision of aesthetics, and budget; and match them with the appropriate product lines to help successfully meet those objectives."

Since 1923 as Simmonds Paint & Glass, our company DNA has endured recessions, thrived in times of economic growth, and after decades of service to the residents and building professionals of Skagit, Island, and San Juan Counties, we continue to grow and evolve.
