Great People, Great Products, Great Customer Service
Welcome to Round Rock Child Psychology! My name is Dr. Alexandra Hudson, and I am a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) based in Round Rock, Texas. I am privileged to be in a profession that serves to help children and their families during some of the toughest times in their lives. I find my work with children and their families to be both gratifying and inspiring, whereby each child and family leaves a lasting impression on me. It is my goal to provide the services you need that will best support your current concerns and needs.
My approach is collaborative and comprehensive. I view parent involvement as a keystone in both the assessment and treatment process, since you are the expert on your child's history, behaviors, and relationships. I also strive to develop a full understanding of your child across the home, school, and community settings. I attempt to include professionals from schools and other agencies as much as appropriate in order to facilitate an inclusive assessment and treatment approach.
About Dr. Hudson
I am a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology (magna cum laude & departmental honors) from The University of the South in Sewanee, TN. Subsequently, I obtained my Master's Degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. After completing my Master's program, I decided to pursue and attain my doctoral degree in child psychology through the APA-accredited School Psychology program at The University of Texas at Austin. I received extensive clinical training in individual therapy and psychological assessment across a broad age range (from preschool through adults) in a variety of settings. I was also involved in various research activities, which resulted in several publications and presentations at national conferences.
My training included a one-year Pre-Doctoral Internship at Virginia Beach City Public Schools (APA-accredited program), which included a year-long placement at the alternative education placement center and the Preschool Assessment Center where I received specialized training in the evaluation of toddlers and preschoolers. I also conducted school-based neuropsychological assessments. I completed my one-year Post-Doctoral Residency through the Round Rock Independent School District, where I continued to gain specialized training and expertise in autism assessment. Prior to private practice, I worked for seven years within the school setting, which has given me the extensive and detailed knowledge and understanding of the laws and eligibility processes for Special Education (IDEA) and Section 504 (Rehabilitation Act). My experiences working within schools have also helped me develop practical and evidence-based treatment plans that are both relevant to the assessment information and easily implemented within both the home and school settings.
Finally, I have served as an Adjunct Professor at Texas State University teaching psychological assessment to master's level students and am currently on the Professional Advisory Committee for South University's Psychology Department. I am currently a member of the following professional organizations and associations: American Psychological Association (APA), APA Division 53: Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Society for Personality Assessment, and the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, effective 5/6/2011.
