Loretta Wirsing

Loretta Wirsing Voice Lessons is a premier vocal training institution dedicated to providing high-quality music education to students of all ages and skill levels. Our mission is to impart the knowledge and experience gained through years of vocal study, performance, and teaching to our students, helping them achieve their musical goals and develop a lifelong love of music.

Our teaching style is personalized to fit the needs and goals of each individual student. Emphasis is placed on protecting and strengthening the voice through development of proper breath support and vocal exercises. Songs are selected according to the student's ability and age, with the objective of assisting the student to expand vocal range, improve articulation, vocal quality, resonance, projection, phrasing, and expression. Sight-reading, stage presence, and audition preparation are also included in our lessons.

Education and Experience

Loretta Wirsing, the founder of Loretta Wirsing Voice Lessons, holds a Master of Music in Voice from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Colorado. She has also studied at Loretto Heights College in Denver, CO, where she pursued a Voice/Piano Double Major. With over 20 years of experience as a private voice instructor and 10 years as a private piano instructor, Loretta has a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with her students.

In addition to her private teaching, Loretta has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Colorado State University, an Adjunct Voice Faculty Member at Colorado State University, and a Voice Instructor at the University of Puget Sound. She has also worked as a Music Director/Choral Director at two churches in Olympia, WA, and as a Community School Music Appreciation Instructor at Centralia Community College.

Performance History

Loretta has an extensive performance history, including leading roles in operas such as "Violetta" in La Traviata, "Leanora" in Fidelio, "Donna Elvira" in Don Giovanni, "Pamina" in Magic Flute, and "Antonia" in Tales of Hoffman. She has also performed in musicals, including dancing/singing chorus roles in Annie Get Your Gun and Finian's Rainbow. As a sacred music performer, Loretta has sung oratorio, cantata, and mass concerts, including Handel's Messiah, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Brahms Requiem, and Mozart Requiem.

Loretta has been a featured soloist in various concerts and events, including a Mozart's Exultate Jubilate performance at St. Martin's College Consort in Olympia, WA. She has also performed as a church soloist in various churches across Colorado, Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. Loretta has received vocal scholarships from Colorado State University, the University of Colorado, and Loretto Heights College, and was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions in Denver, CO.

Professional Affiliations

Loretta is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and Sigma Alpha Iota Professional Music Fraternity. These affiliations demonstrate her commitment to staying current with the latest techniques and best practices in vocal instruction and performance.
