Established in 1980, Mountain Run Kennel has been providing exceptional care and accommodations for dogs and cats for over four decades. Located on 35 acres of picturesque rolling countryside in the Virginia Piedmont, our kennel is conveniently situated near Washington, D.C., Maryland, Northern Virginia, Charlottesville, and Fredericksburg. We take great pride in offering a tranquil retreat for your beloved pets, allowing them to enjoy a relaxing getaway while you're away on a weekend jaunt or an extended vacation.

Comprehensive Services and Amenities

At Mountain Run Kennel, we offer an extensive range of services tailored to the needs of our canine and feline guests. Our state-of-the-art facilities include indoor/outdoor kennel runs with individual sleeping quarters that vary in size from 12 to 32 square feet, ensuring your pet has ample space to rest and play. Each indoor area is connected to a spacious, 48 square foot covered outdoor run, offering a seamless transition between indoor comfort and outdoor exploration. All of our facilities are equipped with heating, air conditioning, and exceptional fresh air ventilation, ensuring your pet remains comfortable in any weather.

Classical music is played throughout the kennel via a central sound system, contributing to a soothing and calming environment. We provide raised bedding boards with sheepskin pads for our furry guests, and our dedicated team members attend to each pet's unique needs and preferences. We offer multiple levels of boarding, allowing you to customize your pet's experience based on their individual requirements:

• Level 1: Regular boarding, including two meals per day and two playtimes.
• Level 2: Level 1 services with three playtimes.
• Level 3: Level 1 services with three playtimes and a daily nature walk.

In addition to our boarding services, we offer a variety of a la carte activities that can be added to any level of care. These activities include one-on-one playtimes, additional nature walks, and grooming services.

Dog-Specific Services and Accommodations

In addition to our general services, we offer specialized accommodations for our canine guests through our Suites for Dogs program. These amenities include:

• Luxury Suites: Our luxury suites offer your dog a spacious 48 square feet of living area, complete with raised bedding and a flat-screen television for visual stimulation.
• Executive Suites: Our executive suites provide your dog with a generous 72 square feet of living space, which includes a raised bedding area, flat-screen television, and private outdoor yard.
• Play Yard Access: All of our suites offer access to large, secure play yards for your dog's enjoyment.

Special Considerations for Cat Guests

At Mountain Run Kennel, we understand that cats have unique needs and preferences. Our Suites for Cats are designed to provide a comfortable and stress-free environment for our feline guests. Each cat suite features a cozy raised bed and a spacious, private lounge area for relaxation. We work closely with you to ensure your cat's specific dietary and activity requirements are met and catered to during their stay.

Our Commitment to Your Pet's Health and Safety

Our team members are dedicated to providing exceptional care for your pet, including the administration of any necessary medications, monitoring of food and water intake, and daily cleaning of your pet's living area. All of our team members are trained in pet first aid and CPR, ensuring your pet's safety in any situation.

As an added precaution, all pets are required to be current on their vaccinations before arriving at Mountain Run Kennel. We also conduct a health check on each pet at check-in, allowing us to address any potential issues and maintain the health and well-being of all of our guests.
