Our Beginnings

Southland Federal Credit Union's journey began in 1963 when seven employees of the Southland Paper Mill in Lufkin, Texas, envisioned a financial institution dedicated to serving their community. Starting small, the credit union grew steadily, expanding its membership eligibility to include family members of employees and later, broader community members in Angelina County.

Growth and Expansion

Over the years, Southland Federal Credit Union has weathered several transformative moments. In 2004, it merged with Houston-Trinity County Teachers Federal Credit Union, adding new members and expanding its reach. The credit union relocated and expanded its facilities in Lufkin and Crockett to better serve its growing membership. Today, with over 7,000 members and $61.1 million in assets, Southland Federal Credit Union stands as a testament to its commitment to financial inclusion and community.
