Meet Our Team

Coastal Plains Surgical Care is proud to be led by Dr. James W. Schlotter, a board-certified general and vascular surgeon with over three decades of experience. Dr. Schlotter brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our practice, specializing in a wide range of procedures, including venous disorders, breast and thyroid surgeries, and cosmetic surgeries.

Dr. Schlotter completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He continued his education at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, graduating in the top 10% of his medical class. He further honed his surgical skills through a residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, culminating in his board certification by the American College of Surgeons and his fellowship in the renowned organization.

Supporting Dr. Schlotter's expertise is Michelle Schlotter, our dedicated office manager and medical assistant. Michelle joined the practice in 1996 and brings over a decade of experience in healthcare administration. She expertly manages the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for our patients. Michelle also plays a vital role in providing patient care, assisting with scheduling surgeries and offering personalized support to each individual.
