Alaska Telephone Association

The Alaska Telecom Association is a non-profit organization that has been supporting the telecommunications industry in Alaska since 1949. Our mission is to provide advanced telecommunication services to some of the most remote and spectacular areas on Earth. We are dedicated to connecting all Alaskans to broadband service, and our member companies are working tirelessly to engineer, construct, and operate a comprehensive, modern broadband network throughout Alaska.

Our History

The Alaska Telecom Association was founded as Alaska Telephone Association in 1949, prior to statehood. At that time, only Alaska's largest communities had local telephone systems, and several of those communities lacked any connection to the long-distance network. In response to the tremendous need for telephone service throughout Alaska, our founders established ATA in the belief that Alaska's economic future was directly dependent upon the development and statewide availability of affordable local and long-distance telephone services. Today, we are proud to continue our mission of connecting all Alaskans to broadband service.

Our Services

The Alaska Telecom Association offers a range of services to its member companies, including:

• Advocacy: We advocate on behalf of our members to ensure that their voices are heard in state and federal government policy decisions.
• Industry Events: We host regular industry events, including conferences, meetings, and training sessions, to keep our members informed about the latest developments in the telecommunications industry.
• Resources: We provide our members with access to resources, such as industry job postings, who serves your community, and telecommunication industry links.
• Membership: We offer membership to companies that provide advanced telecommunication services across Alaska, connecting our members to a network of like-minded professionals.
• Scholarships: We offer scholarships to students pursuing higher education in fields related to the telecommunications industry.

Our executive director, Christine O'Connor, has years of experience in the industry and is committed to connecting all Alaskans to broadband service.
