Emily Sterne Photography, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, specializes in capturing the authentic moments of families through open-hearted imagery. Emily's relaxed and fun sessions allow children to be themselves, and invite grown-ups to be fully present with their families. With a keen eye for the unique character of each family, Emily documents kids and their families at many stages along life's journey. She serves the communities of Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, Boston, Jamaica Plain, Belmont, Winchester, and other nearby areas.

The Photographer

Emily is a multi-faceted mom, a lover of chocolate and cashmere, and a curious student of human nature. Her ongoing education as a photographer has taught her not only to look for the art that can be created from light and composition, but also for the magic that resides in the shy smile of a bashful toddler, the exuberant energy of a family at play, or the group snuggle, no matter how big the babies have gotten. She believes that love is love and 'family' can mean lots of different things. Her goal is to celebrate in pictures what your family means to you. She invites you to get comfortable with not every photo of you being a 'say cheese' moment, to count some of your favorite photos as ones in which you are being silly / messy / grumpy / authentically YOU, and to get in the frame! These are the photos your kids will look back on to remember this time; you are such an important part of those memories. Emily would be honored to help you capture your very own kind of magic for you in beautiful photographs.

Investment in You

Emily Sterne Photography believes that taking the time to learn about you and your family helps her make more meaningful photos for you. Before the session, she will work with you to learn about details she might look out for, an activity you might plan, and/or a location that will bring something special to your family photos. After the session, she will carefully select and tone the best images from your session together, then deliver them in an online gallery to you. Depending on the nature and length of your session, you can expect between 75-150 images in your gallery. She knows that your family's privacy is important to you, and your trust is everything to her. You'll have a chance to see specific, selected photos before giving her your permission to use them in any public way. (You are always welcome to share your photos publicly yourself. A credit is always appreciated!)

Services Offered

*Family Session*: At least one and up to two hours, $500. Whether you have three kids running around or are welcoming your first baby into your home, you are a FAMILY, and this is the session for you! Emily's focus and approach for your session will depend greatly on your individual family unit, and you will work together to make a plan that best suits the character of your family and the images you hope to achieve.

*Other (Small) Events*: Children's birthday parties, very small weddings, other small events where a documentary, unobtrusive photographic style is what you are looking for. Please contact Emily Sterne Photography for a custom quote.

All sessions include a secure online gallery with access to download edited, high resolution files. Prints may be ordered at cost directly from your gallery; custom-designed photo books are also available.
