MindGarden Tutoring

MindGarden Tutoring is a personalized tutoring and academic mentoring service based in Santa Rosa, CA. We are dedicated to helping students discover their unique learning styles and develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. Our mission is to empower students to take control of their education, and we strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where they can feel confident and inspired.

Our Mission

Our mission at MindGarden Tutoring is to help students develop the skills necessary to succeed in school and find balance between their academic, extracurricular, and social lives. We are committed to offering the best educational support possible, and we encourage honesty and integrity in all aspects of school and life. While we do not guarantee scores or grades, we promise to help students learn how to put themselves in the best position for success and understand why it is important to do so.

Our Founder

MindGarden Tutoring was founded by Tom Hruschka, who has over 17 years of experience tutoring, mentoring, and developing and leading math and science programs in the extended San Francisco Bay Area. Tom has a Ph. D. in BioEngineering from the University of California-Berkeley and a B.S. in BioMedical and Electrical Engineering from Duke University. He is passionate about helping students become independent learners and feel empowered about their education.

Tom lives in Santa Rosa with his wife Carolyn, 13-year-old daughter Zoe, 9-year-old son Zef, and loyal puppy Opal. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, mountain biking, surfing, swimming, trail running, gardening, hiking, and playing guitar and piano. His extensive travels in Europe, Central and South America, the South Pacific, New Zealand, and Australia have broadened his cultural awareness and he carries these experiences with him into his career as a tutor and mentor. He approaches both his life and his career with a sense of humor and a commitment to helping others.

Our Services

At MindGarden Tutoring, we offer personalized tutoring and academic mentoring in a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and foreign languages. We also help students with organization, motivation, test anxiety, time management, decision-making, prioritizing, and study skills. In addition, we offer SAT and ACT prep to help students achieve their highest possible scores on these important exams.

Our sessions are tailored to meet the individual needs of each student, and we use a variety of techniques and strategies to help them learn effectively. We believe that students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process, and we strive to make our sessions interactive and engaging. We also provide email reports and appointment reminders to help students stay on track, and we offer learning strategies and resources to help them continue to improve outside of our sessions.
