Kent Door & Specialty, Inc. has a rich history that spans over six decades. Founded in 1954 by Mr. Louis Mulder, Michigan Door Company was initially a manufacturer of hollow and solid core wood flush doors. Over the years, the company underwent several transformations, with key milestones including the purchase by Mr. John Doig in 1968, the formation of Custom Door Company, and its eventual sale to Mr. Ron Hees and Mr. Archie Richardson in 1978. The name was changed to Custom Doors, Inc., and the company continued to grow, introducing new products and expanding its marketing efforts.

In 1982, when Custom Doors, Inc. relocated, Mr. Dave Hees and Mr. Kevin Smith started Kent Door and Specialty, Inc. Since then, Kent Door has added numerous new products and expanded its marketing area to include all of Lower Michigan and Northern Indiana. Today, Kent Door operates in an 83,000 sq. ft. facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the same building constructed in 1954. The company specializes in interior and exterior wood, steel, and fiberglass doors, with a focus on custom fire-rated door manufacturing and machining.

Throughout its history, Kent Door & Specialty, Inc. has been committed to providing quality service and craftsmanship. This tradition has been carried forward by successive generations, with Jonathon Hees assuming the role of President in 2020. Jonathon has been working for Kent Door since 2013 and is dedicated to continuing the company's legacy of excellence.
