The Sewing Bee is a fabric store and sewing machine dealer based in Johnson City, Tennessee. Owned and operated by Carol and Ray Mahar, the store has become a go-to destination for quilters and sewists in the region. Carol and Ray, originally from New York, have lived in Tennessee for over a decade and have five children and 11 grandchildren. With a lifelong passion for sewing and creativity, Carol took the opportunity to become the new owner of The Sewing Bee and follow her dream of owning a fabric store. Ray can be found most days at the store, servicing sewing machines.
Walking into The Sewing Bee to buy a long arm quilt machine, Carol ended up buying the whole store! She had been looking for a way to start quilting professionally, and this unexpected opportunity was too good to pass up. Carol and Ray are excited to embark on this new adventure at The Bee and are looking forward to meeting and getting to know their customers. May 18 - Taco Bag Class: Join Melissa Jones for a beginning class on making a taco bag. You'll learn how to put in a zipper and go home with a finished project!
May 21 - Sampler Set Review and a Few New Designs: Join Betty Briscall for a review of the sampler set and learn a few new ruler quilting techniques. Must have taken a beginning ruler class.
May 22 & 23 - Stitcher's Dream Bag OR Mega Dream Bag Class: Join us for a two-day class and learn how to make a Stitcher's Dream Bag or Mega Dream Bag. Choose the bag that's right for you and complete it during this fun and interactive class.
May 29 - Sit & Sew: Join us for a day of sewing and socializing. Bring your project and sew the day away with friends.
