The Vault Recording Studio is a state-of-the-art recording studio located in Neville Island, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Established in 2016, The Vault is the culmination of founder Bob McCutcheon's passion for music and his wife Dana's vision for a space where musicians of all kinds could connect, co-create, record, and promote their music.
Our Origins
Bob McCutcheon's love affair with music started early, and he began his first recording studio, "Alternative Studios", in his mother's garage in 1988. After graduating from Robert Morris University with a business degree, he pursued a 28-year career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, ultimately retiring as Managing Partner. However, Bob never lost sight of his passion for music and continued to play, write, and record music. Inspired by their love of music, Bob, his wife Dana, and their two sons Ryan and Brett embarked on a journey to create something more than just a recording studio. They envisioned a vibrant space where musicians could connect, co-create, record, and promote their music.

- Jimmy Hoyson, 6-Time Grammy Winner | Producer, Chief Engineer: With a career spanning decades, Jimmy has worked with renowned artists and has credits on numerous records, films, and television shows.
- Dave Hillis, Multi-Platinum | Producer, Engineer: A seasoned engineer and producer, Dave has worked with Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and other legendary bands.
- Rocky Lamonde, Producer, Engineer: A Pittsburgh native, Rocky has been involved in the music industry as a performing artist and producer for many years.
- Rob Deaner, Composer, Producer, Engineer: A veteran composer, producer, engineer, and sound designer, Rob has spent decades creating music in Pittsburgh, New York, and Nashville.
