ME First Respite Care

ME First Respite Care, LLC was founded to provide relief for family caregivers who need a break from their responsibilities. The company was inspired by the founders personal experience caring for her father with Alzheimers disease and recognizing the strain it placed on her mother. Johnnie Pendergrass, the Managing Partner, brings over thirty years of child care experience from Prince Georges County, Maryland, where she earned multiple certifications and received appreciation from families she served. Her caregiving background and nurturing spirit led her to become a professional caregiver and to establish the Tender Loving Caregivers Ministry in her church. She is also a trained facilitator by the Alzheimers Association and a certified caregiver consultant. ME First Respite Care offers inhome respite care, veteran care, companion care, and sitter care services to elderly, disabled adults, veterans, and surviving spouses.

The company provides screened, insured, and bonded companions who are selected using the same standards the owners would apply to their own family members. Services include companionship, assistance with activities of daily living, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and transportation to appointments. ME First Respite Care operates Monday through Friday from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., Saturday from 9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m., and is closed on Sundays. The service area covers the District of Columbia, Maryland, and North Carolina, with free consultations available to prospective clients. The mission is to partner with family caregivers, offering support and the opportunity to take a break while helping loved ones remain safely at home.
