Education plays a vital role in an adolescent's life, and we have extensive experience working within both public and private school settings. As a Nationally Certified School Psychologist for over 15 years, we have a deep understanding of the educational system and the challenges that students face in learning and achieving their academic goals. We offer psychoeducational assessments for Child Study Team, special education, or Section 504 Plan needs.

Our Expertise

Dr. David Steinke, the founder of Steinke Psychological Services, is a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. He has worked extensively with preteens, adolescents, and young adults, focusing on issues related to anxiety, academic performance, school problems, Asperger's Syndrome, social skills, ADHD, depression, and behavioral problems.

Dr. Steinke's background includes several years as a Senior Counselor at Pahl House in Troy, NY, where he worked with adolescents dealing with substance abuse and emotional issues. He has also worked as a school counselor at Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School and as a consultant for the NYC Board of Education, teaching behavior management strategies to paraprofessionals working in the NYC school system.

Dr. Steinke has taught at the college level as an Adjunct Lecturer at York College and Queens College in New York and has been a guest lecturer for several classes at Montclair State University in New Jersey. For the past 15 years, he has worked as a School Psychologist, most recently at Montclair High School in Montclair, NJ, where he has conducted individual and group therapy, psychoeducational assessments, crisis intervention, and academic collaboration and consultation.

Dr. Steinke holds a BA in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, an MEd in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia, a Professional Certificate in School Psychology from Queens College, a MA in Philosophy from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and a PhD in Educational Psychology with a specialization in School Psychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He is a professional member in good standing of the American Psychological Association, the New Jersey Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the National Association of School Psychologists, and the New Jersey Association of School Psychologists.
