Our Story
Our founders, Francis and Lorraine Meurer, began their journey in 1929, bringing with them their German heritage and European connections. They recruited several European master bakers to join them in their growing enterprise, which soon became a well-known name in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Over the years, we've continued to grow and prosper, taking advantage of our rich family recipes and those from our European master bakers.
Our Values
At Meurer Brothers Bakery, we believe in using only superior European ovens for a consistent bake. Our clean label initiative means we use natural preservatives like vinegar and wholesome colors like beet powder. We're committed to sourcing locally whenever possible, using Real Wisconsin Cheese, Door County cherries, and Michigan apples in our recipes. We're dedicated to providing our clients with products that meet our high standards for quality, value, and taste.
Our Products
Our Mini Danish pastries are gently laminated, aged, and filled with fresh, made-from-scratch fillings, baked to a flaky tenderness, and finished off with our signature icing pattern. We offer a range of flavors, from classic cream cheese to cinnamon apple and raspberry cherry. Our 9-inch Danish coffee cakes are laminated with many layers, naturally fermented to enhance flavor and provide a flaky texture, and topped with homemade jams and smears. Our French Creme coffee cakes start with traditional sweet dough and are smothered with streusel, filled with shelf-stable old-world recipe French creme, and finished with sifted confectioners sugar. And, of course, our Turtle Cookies are a decadent treat, featuring classic shortbread cookies dipped in choice pecan and finished with the best Belgian Dark Chocolate.
