Shepherd's Driver Consulting has been a trusted provider of driver training in the Greater Harrisburg area for many years. Our team of experienced instructors is dedicated to helping new drivers develop the skills they need to become safe and confident drivers. We offer guidance on everything from basic vehicle control to handling complex traffic situations, all while keeping the needs and abilities of each individual student in mind.

In addition to our standard driver training program, we are proud to offer a number of specialized services to meet the needs of our diverse community. These include:

• Se habla Espanol for Basic Spanish speaking drivers: We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality driver training, regardless of their language background. That's why we offer driver instruction in Spanish for our Spanish-speaking students.
• Training for the hearing impaired: We are committed to providing accessible driver training for all. That's why we offer specialized instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

• Certified Behind The Wheel Driver Training: We provide one-on-one driver instruction that includes real-life experience to help you become a safer driver. All of our instructors are certified and have extensive experience teaching new drivers.
• Flexible Scheduling: We offer year-round training that can be scheduled around school, college, and work commitments. We understand that it can be difficult to fit driver training into a busy schedule, which is why we offer flexible scheduling options to suit your needs.
• Secondary Brake for Training: For the safest possible learning experience, we use a Toyota Corolla with a secondary brake in the passenger seat. This allows our instructors to take control of the vehicle if necessary, giving you peace of mind as you learn.

Our Courses

We offer two driver training courses to meet the needs of our students:

• Basic Course: The Basic Driver Training Program is designed for beginners or first-time drivers in the United States. This is where students learn the basics and how to make safer decisions. They also gain more confidence when preparing for their road test at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Center. The course is 7 hours long, with six hours of hands-on instruction. The seventh hour is devoted to making arrangements for the final driver's test with PennDOT. Appointment scheduling is flexible and can be completed in 6-8 weeks. Alternatively, the lessons can be spread over a longer period of time (up to six months). This is helpful for individuals who have just obtained their learner's permit or have busy schedules. ($550)
• Accelerated Course: The Accelerated Driver Training Program of our Harrisburg driving school is designed to train more advanced students. It's a shorter timeframe, but it enables the instructor to tailor the training to fit the needs of the student. Accelerated students are evaluated on their first session, and the instructor may recommend additional training if deemed necessary. Accelerated Training Programs do not include a certificate of completion. A minimum of 6 hours of instruction is required to receive a certificate. ($325)
