I understand that seeking therapy can be a challenging step, but it is crucial to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and trust. As rapport and therapeutic alliance are key elements of effective therapy, I encourage you to ask questions and gather the necessary information to make an informed decision when selecting a therapist. If you have any questions or concerns that are not addressed on my website, please feel free to contact me.
Education & Training
I earned my Bachelor's of Art degree in Psychology from The University of South Florida in 2003. Following this, I began my graduate training at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where I received my Master's of Art degree in Psychology in 2006 and my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology degree in 2009. I completed an APA accredited predoctoral internship at The University of Tennessee-Knoxville Counseling Center in 2008-2009.
Throughout my graduate training and work experience, I have had the opportunity to work in various settings and with diverse age groups. I have worked at two counseling centers, two community mental health agencies, an outpatient clinic, and several private practices. In 2010, I established my own private practice and currently work full-time in this setting. Additionally, I serve as an adjunct faculty member at Marywood University and the University of Scranton, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses.
Psychotherapy Services
I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, grief, and anger. I also have extensive experience working with survivors of abuse and trauma, including physical and sexual childhood abuse, rape, and domestic abuse. Furthermore, I work with clients who are struggling with relationship issues and work or school-related stress.
In individual psychotherapy, a client meets one-on-one with a psychologist to discuss issues or problems they are experiencing, explore how these issues or problems are affecting various aspects of their life, and develop a treatment plan to create positive changes in the client's life. Our initial session will be used as a way for you and I to get to know each other and for me to learn about difficulties you are having and what changes you are interested in making in your life. At the end of this initial session, we will develop treatment goals to work toward and specify a timeline for these goals.
I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for you to explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Through this process, you will gain insight into your experiences and develop coping strategies to manage your emotions and improve your overall well-being.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy, also known as relationship therapy, is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening emotional bonds between two individuals in a romantic relationship. This type of therapy can be beneficial for couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship, such as communication issues, intimacy problems, or unresolved conflicts.
In couples therapy, both partners meet with a psychologist to discuss their relationship and the challenges they are facing. Through this process, couples can learn effective communication skills, conflict resolution strategies, and how to foster a deeper emotional connection with one another. My goal in couples therapy is to help you and your partner build a stronger, more fulfilling relationship.
Family Therapy
Family therapy, also known as family counseling, is a type of psychotherapy that involves treating multiple members of a family together. This form of therapy can be beneficial for families who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships, such as communication issues, behavioral problems, or unresolved conflicts.
In family therapy, family members meet with a psychologist to discuss their relationships and the challenges they are facing. Through this process, family members can learn effective communication skills, conflict resolution strategies, and how to foster a deeper emotional connection with one another. My goal in family therapy is to help you and your family members build stronger, more fulfilling relationships.
Educational and Personality Assessments
I also offer educational and personality assessments, which can be beneficial for individuals who are seeking to understand their cognitive abilities, personality traits, or educational needs. These assessments can help identify areas of strength and weakness, as well as provide recommendations for educational or career paths that may be best suited for you.
