At Hibbs Excavating & Grading, we are more than just a company. We are a family that has been dedicated to serving Des Moines and its surrounding communities for over 40 years. Our journey began in 1980 when Larry and Kum Hibbs started the company, continuing a legacy that dates back to their grandfather, Pat Kellar. Pat was an excavating contractor who used a team of mules and a slip. He eventually bought the first Caterpillar loader in Des Moines, and his sons, including Larry's uncle, worked for him. Larry learned the business from his uncle, starting with a shovel and eventually moving on to running tractors.

In 2006, David, one of Larry's sons, and his wife Kristi took over ownership of the company. Under their leadership, the business has expanded to include commercial projects. Today, their sons, Justin and Carter, are also part of the team, ensuring that the family legacy continues for generations to come.

Our team is comprised of experienced professionals who are dedicated to delivering the highest quality service. Our President and Owner, David Hibbs, has a passion for the business and a commitment to integrity, honesty, and reliability. As Co-owner and Office Manager, Kristi Hibbs uses her skills to guide and direct the company towards its future vision. Cody Frye, our Field Superintendent, has been with the company for 19 years and is skilled on any machine. Justin Hibbs, our Project Manager and Estimator, uses his extensive knowledge in computers and technology to complete projects efficiently.

We specialize in excavation and grading, trucking, and demolition. Whether it's a large or small excavator, track loader or skid loader, we have the right equipment for the job. We also haul dirt, sand, gravel, broken concrete, broken asphalt, or demolition debris. Our demolition services include small commercial, residential, concrete, asphalt, barns, or silos, and we ensure that all work is done safely and in a timely manner.
