Driven by ambition and a desire for a brighter future, Sylvia, just a young woman, opened her own beauty salon in her hometown. Eventually, her dream led her to the bustling streets of Harlem, where she landed a job as a waitress. Seeing her entrepreneurial spirit, her employer eventually sold her the small luncheonette where she worked, setting the stage for Sylvia's eventual triumph.
Fuelled by her mother's unwavering belief and a loan secured against the family farm, Sylvia took the leap to ownership. What started as a modest establishment with just a handful of stools and booths transformed into a culinary institution that has graced the neighborhood for over five decades.
