Meet Our Team

Our caring staff is here to assist you with all your scheduling and insurance questions. They are attentive, courteous, knowledgeable, and well-versed in helping you navigate your insurance and preparing your chart for Dr. Woolner. We use state-of-the-art equipment, and our staff is continuously trained on proper use of all units. Stop in or call, ask your neighbors about us, a satisfied patient is our best referral, and have your family join ours.

Dr. Tim Woolner, our lead optometrist, specializes in Pediatric Optometry and how it relates to the visual demands and educational performance of his patients. Dr. Woolner received formal training in this area from Dr. Carl Grunning, past President for the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) and is the current professor for binocular vision at the New York State College of Optometry. He also has experience with child patients, including an externship at the University of Chicago Hospital in the Pediatric division. Dr. Woolner has been in private practice in the Mohawk Valley since 2009 and continues to champion for the best vision care we can offer in New York State.

Steve Wood, our optician, is a licensed health care practitioner who provides lenses for the correction of a refractive error. When you are in need of glasses, he will consult with you about what lenses and frames would be best. Our office offers over 600 frame choices; they are affordable, practical, and stylish. As technology advances so, too, do eyeglass lenses. Would a lined bifocal suffice? or would you prefer a progressive (no line bifocal)? There are many variables in frame and lens selection, and Steve has over 18 years in ophthalmic dispensing and will walk you through the process of picking out glasses from start to finish.

Before attending Matter Dei College, Steve served 14 years as a combat engineer and received the rank of staff sergeant. He graduated from Matter Dei in 1998 with his degree in ophthalmic dispensing. With 18 years working with a private practice and 2 years in retail stores, he is a qualified and caring optician who is here to help you. Our patients can also stop in and have their glasses adjusted free of charge, if a nosepad or temple cover is damaged either call or stop in and we will be happy to help.
