Our Story

Founded in the 1970s by Bill Hallman, Hallman Asphalt & Sealing began as a small business specializing in asphalt patching jobs around the Madison area. Bill's dedication to providing excellent service quickly led to the expansion of residential asphalt paving in the 1980s. With the addition of a small asphalt paver and roller, and the invaluable contribution of his wife Linda as one of the first female dump truck drivers in the city of Madison, the company began paving driveways full time.

In the 1990s, Bill's focus shifted to commercial asphalt paving, with a crew of 3-4 guys continuing to pave driveways and small parking lots. The family took some time to enjoy their cabin in the Northwoods for hunting and fishing. Bill's only son, Gavin, was born during this period, and the family's passion for the business was passed down to the next generation.

After celebrating over 20 successful years in business, Bill grew his relationships with long-time employees Jim and Dan, who continued paving driveways and parking lots for years to come. In the 2010s, Gavin showed interest in the business, buying sealcoat equipment and beginning to seal driveways and small parking lots.

Today, Gavin has assumed ownership of the company and has transitioned it into a full-service asphalt maintenance business. With the addition of three sons to their family, Hallman Asphalt & Sealing is well-positioned to continue its legacy as a third-generation family business.
