Joseph Learning Lab (JLL) is dedicated to closing the learning gap and developing students of all ages and diverse backgrounds. We believe that education is valuable, and every child deserves an equal opportunity for learning and personal growth. Our free after-school tutoring services and popular Summer Enrichment Program provide students with a comprehensive educational experience that goes beyond the classroom.

Our Mission and Story

Our mission is to close the learning gap, reduce the dropout rate, and develop underserved children of all ages and diverse backgrounds by allowing them an equal opportunity for learning and personal growth. Founded in 2015 by Gert Joseph Williams, JLL was established to bridge the learning gap for many children in underserved communities. Our founder's involvement and impact on the community go back to the mid-90's, when she adopted an elementary school in South Los Angeles and tutored and mentored hundreds of students in successful after-school reading and math programs.

Our Services

At JLL, we offer a range of services designed to support students of all ages and backgrounds. Our after-school tutoring services provide one-on-one attention to students, tailored to their individual needs and learning styles. Our Summer Enrichment Program offers a comprehensive educational experience that includes mentoring, meal provisions, field trips, fun games, and activities. Our Learning Lab Solution uses assessments to customize an academic plan for each child, including their proficiency in reading and math. We then match each child with a qualified tutor/teacher and provide adequate time and attention to learn and excel.

Our Team

Our team is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our students. Our founder and executive director, Gert Joseph Williams, is a change advocate with decades of experience and a passion for education. She oversees all operations of JLL, including fundraising, program development, and coordination. Our Board of Directors is made up of entrepreneurs, community members, and educators who have a vested interest in bettering the learning experience for underserved children.
