Our Leadership Team

Our leadership team at Chaviva High School consists of experienced educators with a deep-seated passion for inspiring students. Our administrative team includes Mrs. Rochie Berkowitz, our founding principal, and Mrs. Huvie Schabes, our Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

• Mrs. Rochie Berkowitz is a highly experienced educator with almost 20 years of teaching experience. She received her BA from Maimonides College and her teachers' training and certification through Yavne Teachers Seminary and Ateres Bnos Yerushalayim. As the founding principal of Chaviva High School, Mrs. Berkowitz is dedicated to creating an atmosphere of motivation and positivity that encourages students to reach beyond their comfort zone.
• Mrs. Huvie Schabes has over 30 years of experience in education and has held numerous positions at the elementary and high school levels for both girls and boys. She has trained in Project-Based Learning methodology, coaching, and leadership at PBL OHIO in Columbus through the Buck Institute for Education. In her role as Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Mrs. Schabes oversees the curriculum of all classes and serves as a mentor and coach to the teachers.

Our Educational Team

Our educational team is a collaborative unit made up of highly qualified professionals dedicated to inspiring and guiding the next generation of leaders in our community. Our Limudei Kodesh team includes Rabbi Dovid Aaron Gross, Rabbi Simcha Zev Baum, Dr. Moshe Ornstein, and Mrs. Tamar Cohen.

• Rabbi Dovid Aaron Gross is the Rav of Kehillas Beis Doniel in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and the official posek for Chaviva High School. He teaches our weekly shiur on Parshas HaShavuah.
• Rabbi Simcha Zev Baum is the Rosh Kollel of Young Israel's Kollel and teaches our 11th grade Halacha class.
• Dr. Moshe Ornstein is an oncologist, mentor, and medical school faculty member at the Cleveland Clinic. He teaches a night seder halacha chaburah at Yeshiva High School of Cleveland and serves as a halacha teacher for the 12th grade.
• Mrs. Tamar Cohen has over 10 years of teaching experience and teaches kodesh and general studies classes for the 12th grade.
