Our experienced instructors, J.R. and Chrissy, are dedicated to helping students of all ages and skill levels discover the joy and wonder of horses. Our Story

J.R., the owner and chief instructor, brings a wealth of experience to our lessons. He began his journey with horses as a high school teacher and FFA advisor, where he shared his knowledge and love of horses with countless students. His life revolves around horses, spending a remarkable 300 days a year in the saddle. J.R.'s passion for horsemanship is truly contagious. Chrissy, J.R.'s wife and co-owner, was initially inspired by J.R.'s dedication to horses, witnessing firsthand the transformative power they hold. She found her own joy and skill in teaching, delighting in the progress and confidence her students gain. Their shared love for horses and teaching blossomed into the dream of creating a space where others could experience the magic of horsemanship.

They started by teaching their own children and a few neighbors, fostering a love of horses in the community. This experience solidified their decision to build a formal horse riding school, sharing their passion with a wider audience and establishing a legacy for future generations.

Our Approach

At South Jordan Utah Horse Riding Lessons, we believe that learning to ride is about far more than just mastering technical skills. Our curriculum emphasizes the development of essential life skills through the unique bond between horse and rider.

Confidence, communication (both verbal and non-verbal), and leadership - these are the core values we instill in every student. Through hands-on interaction with our gentle and well-trained horses, students learn the importance of clear communication, assertive leadership, and unwavering self-belief.

One example of this approach is our "pole jumping" exercise. While the task seems simple, it becomes a powerful tool for cultivating confidence. At first, students may find their horse hesitant, knocking over the pole. But as they continue to work with the horse, practicing clear communication and demonstrating leadership, they witness their horse's confidence soar. The horse leaps over the pole, not out of obligation, but out of a newfound trust and understanding of the rider's intentions.

We strive to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel empowered to explore their potential and develop their skills. We achieve this through:

• Small Class Sizes: We keep our group lessons intimate, with no more than 2-3 students at a time. This allows for personalized instruction and ensures each student receives the individual attention they deserve.
